I am surprising my wife with a three day trip to Paris to celebrate our 5th anniversary. She lived briefly in Paris when she was 20 (13 years ago), and has always said she wanted to return with me someday. Well, jobs, kids, and life in general got in the way and we never have had the time. So anyway, the tickets are booked!
I am looking for a truly romantic experience ... seeing every museum and landmark is not imperative (although I am sure we will see a few). I am not looking to dash madly from one place to the next - I really want to enjoy our time together as much as the city itself.
That being said, having never been to Paris, I really have no idea how the trip will unfold. I don%26#39;t want it to be too planned out and regimented, but at the same time I do want to make the necessary reservations prior to arriving.
So, recommendations are welcome!
Restaurants - I have heard many great things about the gastronomic menus. We certainly are not foodies, but do enjoy good meals (although $1000 for a meal for two seems a little over the top). Is doing a lunch Prix Fix menu at one of the Haute establishments a good alternative, and if so, where should I consider?
Seine Cruise, Moulin Rouge, Crazy Horse etc - are these a good use of our time or just tourist traps? I have read so many mixed reviews on all. If so, which would be best to book prior?
Any other tips or suggestions, places to go, etc would be great. Thanks so much!!

I was in Paris for 2 days. The only points on interest we got to see where, the tower, the arc, Versailles, Sacre Couer and Notre Dame.
If I were you I would do a search. This way you%26#39;ll get ideas on what
things to do while you are there. You need comfortable shoes. We did a lot of walking. Go to your local library and get mapguides, I think Rick Steve%26#39;s guides are really good. My advice to you is to do a search on this forum and read, read, read. Good luck!! and I hope you both have a good time in Paris!! Get a good map of the city. I got one from Books a Million which I had to order, The Paris Mapquide %26quot;The essential guide to la Vie Parisienne%26quot; by Michael Middleditch, about $10, less if you are a member.

You can do lunch at le Vefour in Palais Royal complex.
It is a 3 stars, one of the oldest restaurants in Paris and it is in an excellent part of town to go on a romantic walk afterwards:
walk through gardens, walk through Louvre, cross Pont des Arts and then catch one of the Vedettes du Pont Neuf at Square du Vert Galant.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary in Paris in May. Afterwards, I wrote a goList on how to have a romantic stay in Paris. Check it out. It%26#39;s titled %26quot;Love is in the Parisian Air%26quot;. Even though we stayed 8 nights, I think you can get some ideas and choose activities that suit you. Have a great time.

For non-foodies, I say skip the three star, temple of haut cuisine three hour formal ordeal and go for something that is more inline with your style.
The great chefs all have a smaller, less formal restaurant that you could enjoy with much less money, less time and less food, some examples would be Pierre Gagniere%26#39;s Gaya, Alain Ducasse%26#39;s Spoon, Guy Savoy%26#39;s Les Bouquinists and Joel Robuchon%26#39;s La Table.
For young, fun, funky, trendy with a view there is Cafe de l%26#39;Homme and Restaurant R both with Eiffel Tower views.
The Seine cruises can be nice, but reservations are not required, so you can play it by ear. I am not a big cabaret fan, so I could live without the others.....
