private beach cost for family of 5

We are arriving in St. Tropez by small cruise ship (Windstar%26#39;s Windsurf) in late June. Have no idea where port is in relation to beaches. Cruise ship in charging more than $150 per person for transportation and admission to Tahiti Beach. That is more than we can manage. Also, wrong beach since our family includes a 7 year old. What is a typical admission cost for a more family oriented beach? Can we rent bikes to get to beach and back? Any help in the next few days will be appreciated. We leave home on June 20.

In summer 2004 three of us paid €211 for lunch, drinks, three mattresses and a sunshade on the beach.

Last year it was €324 for four of us. That included all drinks for the day as well.

I might suggest Plage des Jumeaux on Route de L%26#39;Epi. It attracts families as there is some play equipment there. We ate in the main restaurant overlooking the sea but I think you could buy snacks from round where the children%26#39;s area is. The telephone munber is 04 94 55 21 80.

I have never seen bikes for rent in St Tropez and you would have to have a certain death wish to use them with the traffic. Your best bet would to be to get into a taxi.

I hope that helps

Thank you JBART for your very helpful information. This website and the people on the forums are just great. Don%26#39;t know what I would have done without the help.

This is too late to help you, but perhaps someone will benefit. Admission to Tahiti, with lounge and umbrella, is Euro 18 each. Aside from the fancy restaurant, there is a self-service and a snack bar. AND a free public beach within 100 meters, from which you may use any of those eating places. For not telling you this, your cruise line should be shot. However, you need a taxi to and from the port.
