Altitude 95 at Eiffel Tower

Has anyone eaten here? Is it a hassle to get to? Reservations easy to come by? Am taking older friend to Paris for her first ever trip and am trying to make it pretty low-impact (walking, waiting, etc etc). This sounds like a good way to kill two birds with one stone. Thoughts/suggestions appreciated!

It is touristy and the food average but there is something magical about dining with Paris at your feet.

Reserve in advance and you get line skipping privledges.

I am considering eating here also - not sure on lunch or dinner, if we do it. I think it%26#39;d be cool to be there when the sun was setting.

Here is a cut and paste from a posting I did last month. Hope it helps:

We booked Altitude 95 two weeks ahead by fax and got same table as last year -- one table in from Trocadero side window. Food is not over the top but, wow, did 13yo do us proud when she went after my seafood appetizer platter with a vengeance, devouring ever snail, oyster and other briny critter she could wrest from its shell with her metal pincer. She surrendered after 45 minutes under duress and under protest. Note: you cannot book this restaurant by email. You must call them or fax them. Request the date and a 7 or 9 pm seating. If you fax them, they are very efficient about sending you back a fax. Take it with you to the E.T. when you go to eat. When you get to ET, go to the information booth. They will look up your name on their reservation list. You pay 4.2 Euros per person for lift to first floor where A95 is located. The lift is located at the west entrance to the ET. You will get to jump the line there to get on the elevator. A lot of people ask about Alt. 95. It is what it is. It is a great place for tourists who love good views and who love the ET, or who absolutely require a bilingual menu. The staff is hyper accustomed to tourists and their needs. The food is okay. Avoid most of the appetizers, they are pre-prepared and too cold, except for the seafood platter appetizer which the 13year old attacked with a fervor I have not seen since she discovered catsup. She ate every oyster, snail, and critter she could pry out of its shell until, finally, 45 minutes later, a waiter arrived with her entrée and politely told her she was finished! By the time we left Alt. 95, it was 11:20 so we saved “sparkling ET” for another evening and joined the cab line out front to go home.

We ate there last month and really enjoyed it. We went through Paris Vision and booked their %26quot;Paris Musts%26quot; tour and it included a bus tour to get familiar with the city, a Siene boat tour, and tour of the Eiffel Tower, including lunch at the Altitude 95. We only waited in line at the bottom of the tower for about 2 minutes. The lunch menu was different for the %26quot;tour%26quot; folks (and by %26quot;tour folks%26quot; I don%26#39;t mean that we had to sit with strangers - we did not and we were even given a window table) -- we only had a few choices, but we did enjoy the food.

My relatives ate there with their toddler two years ago and loved it. The servers were very accomodating especially to the toddler. The food was not the best as has been said, but it was pretty good anyway. Yes. It is touristy, but how many times do you get the chance to dine atop the Eiffel Tower?

I can’t agree more...

Just a few weeks ago we also did an evening excursion w/Paris Vision on our first day there. The last thing we wanted to do was to try and navigate the city in a haze of jet lag and we figured this would be the best way to keep ourselves awake as long as possible. So, we booked dinner at Altitude 95 and an evening illuminations boat tour.

Yes it’s touristy, but hey, while on holiday in other countries aren’t we all tourists? The food is good, just not the best, and it’s a little pricy, but after all, you are paying for the experience of dining on the Eiffel Tower and the wonderful view!

There was little walking/climbing involved. We saw many older people there-I don%26#39;t think this will be an issue for your friend. Our PV driver picked us up at our hotel, brought us ahead of the lines, right to the elevators and up the tower. He was waiting for us after dinner and promptly brought us to the river cruise. After the cruse, he waited for us to disembark and then delivered us back to our hotel.

It really made our first night in Paris a special one-one we will never forget!

I hope you go-enjoy!

We ate there several weeks ago and found it a very enjoyable experience. Our daughter (4) is quite taken by the Eiffel Tower so to be able to eat at a restaurant there was quite a treat for her.

I recommend reserving several weeks in advance to get a table next to the window as the point here is the scenery. I thought the food was excellent when one considers this is primarily a tourist location. I ordered a sea food entrée (first course) that had more oysters, mussels, friture, and bulots than I could eat. It was so copious that I asked the waitress if she had made a mistake in giving me a portion for two people instead of just one. All of our food was good and the service was attentive.

The only problem encountered was in making the reservation. I had called from the US and is took several tries before someone finally answered the phone (yes I know the time zone difference). Overall however I recommend Altitude 95 for families, couples, or anyone seeking a unique and memorable dinning experience.

khkh ..The wife and i ate there last September and we both were very happy we did..I made reservations for a window seat overlooking Trocadero square about 5 weeks prior for a 7pm sitting..

I ordered the Seafood platter around 40 Euros and well worth it if you love seafood could not finish it all...and the wife ordered steak around 20 Euros so was not really that expensive....

In front of the Eiffel tower you will see a building with a yellow canopy on it will say reservations rest. it is here you get your tickets to the first level and Altitude 95 you skip all the lineup...

We stayed for a couple of hours and this was well worth the visit now when we see a picture of the Eiffel tower it reminds us of eating there..

Safe Travels...Jimmy

I finally bit the bullet and booked a reservation! The woman who answered spoke excellent English, I told her that her English was much better than my French. :)

We are going to the 7pm dining time.

Sounds wonderful, will the elevator accommodate a wheelchair? and is it closed in or glass?
