Hi all... I would really love if someone can give me suggestions for a hotel arox 200$ a night in an area where lots of cute boutiques , cafes, shops etc are located... We are a young couple that likes the trendy fun areas. We are trying to plan our vacation since last year it was cancelled because of Hurricane Wilma.. We are really excited to finally have our romantic getaway,

please help .... We heard that L%26#39;ile is a nice area.... Someone.......

Id suggest that you look for hotels in the marais area - seesm to fit your criteria

L%26#39;Ile is nice, but it%26#39;s small, and given your description of what you want to do and see, I%26#39;d agree that you should target the Marais.
There are indeed shops, cafes, boutiques on L%26#39;Ile, but not enough of them to warrant making that your home base.

I would recommend Best Western Folkestone Opera - its just a stones throw from La Madeleine, not far from the big stores, and just so easy to walk to everywhere - it cuts your budget by $75 - and yet is spotless, breakfast included, beds are comfortable and staff are lovely. and that budget cut means that you have more to spend whilst you%26#39;re there!

The Ile St-Louis is pleasant, but expensive--quite a lot of it is residential, and there is n%26#39;t the mix of restaurants and shops that you would find in other areas. I%26#39;d recommend staying in the St-Germain area, which has it all. What time of the year are you going? If it%26#39;s summer, you will want to have a/c, and that ups the price. You could take a look at the Hôtel Bonaparte, which has a fine location; it%26#39;s a very nice two-star place and is very popular with travelers on the Fodors site. Another possibility would be the La Perle or Le Regent.

Thanks all of you for the recommendations I will check out all the websites... Can anyone tell me what the big difference of the marais area compared to St Germain,.
Thanks,....

I suggest you do look at staying on Ile St. Louis. It is very atmospheric, is nicely located. I%26#39;ve stayed at both the Hotel des Deux Iles and Hotel de Lutece and recommend them highly. Lutece got remodeled early in the year and raised their rates slightly, but is not more expensive than hotels located in the Marais and St. Germain. However, it will cost a bit more than $200/night. Both island hotels are owned by the same person who owns the Henri IV Rive Gauche in the Latin Quarter (and the Galileo in the 8th district).
