We%26#39;d like to do a tour the first afternoon that we arrive in Paris - we arrive around 10:30 a.m., by the time we get checked into our hotel, settled a bit, it will probably be closer to 1 - 1:30 p.m.
We would like to do either the Bike Tour or the Segway tour to see some of the main sights, and get a general idea of Paris. Should we do the bike tour at 3 p.m. or at 7 p.m. the first day/evening, or go with the Segway tour on the second day in the morning?
If you did either of these tours, did you do day or evening and would you recommend it?

You don%26#39;t say where you are coming from but, if it follows a long flight, I would recommend you do neither tours that first day. Perhaps you are so young and resilient that jet lag doesn%26#39;t bother you, but I would wait until the next day.
We did the Segway tour in the morning from the Eiffel tour, and found it a truly wonderful and memorable way to get a feel of the city. We, a party of four older types, found it simply wonderful and well worth the price.
Have a wonderful time in Paris!

Some comments from a local :
You will not see %26quot;some of the main sights%26quot; or %26quot;get a general idea%26quot; of Paris%26quot; on a segway, hardly more on organised bike tours. You%26#39;ll be simply making circles in some of the city%26#39;s most touristed neighbourhoods which you could discover on your own.
Those companies have become quite visible in Paris. As you are visiting a foreign city, with hopefully an interest in the local culture, do you absolutely want to join a cohort of English speakers, blocking the streets with long, penguin-like, lines of segways and be a nuisance to both locals and fellow tourists?
I do not know about your nationality, but some posters here express the (baseless) fear of %26quot;sticking out as an American%26quot;. If there is something that screams %26quot;American%26quot; more than white tennis shoes and baseball caps, it is parading on a segway around the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower!
It you like cycling, howver, it is quite possible to rent bikes on your own and tour the city using the cycling track system. I can help you to find the necessary information if this interests you.

We did the nighttime bike tour the day after we arrived. It was a 4 hour riding tour and then over an hour on the boat ride and then more riding back to the office, then a walk to the metro and then a metro ride back to the hotel. We did not get to our hotel (near St. Michael) until 12:30am, so that might be a long day and night after a long plane ride. The bike ride was great and we had a wonderful time, but it was tiring after a long day. If I were to do it again, I would do it a few days after I arrived and had time to recover from the long plane ride and adjustments to the time difference.

I would not recommend doing either one after an international flght.
Take a cruise on the Seine, a ride on the top of an open bus, try the company 4 roues sous un parapluie or hire a guide for the day to show you the highlights and help you get your bearings. OR simply walk your neighborhood and get a feel for it and where you are. %26quot;Study%26quot; metro, buses, a street map to get familiarized with it all.
Different people react differently to jet lag but few of them are at their best upon arrival.
