apartment location

Hi, we have found two nice-lookng apartments to rent for a week-end %26amp; would welcome some advice as to their locations - would they be convenient %26amp;/or reasonably quiet?

One is on rue de France opposite rue Honore Sauvan, the other is on rue Emmanuell Philibert, about 1 minute from the port.

I have not been to Nice before %26amp; am not sure whether they are well located or not?

Any info much appreciated.

These were from www.holiday-rentals.com site which has loads of apartments/villas all over Europe. You deal directly with the owners so standards may vary - havnt actually used them before. Did try www.niceapartments.co.uk which had been recommended on this site - apartments looked good but they didnt have anything suitable for our dates.

Does anyone know which of these two locations would be best - bit worried about the rue de France being noisy??

Hello, my holiday studio is in a new residence on rue emmanuel philibert and it is a quiet one-way road, there are coaches arriving and leaving with tour groups at the Kyriad hotel on the same road but that is the busiest it gets. It is handy for the Old Town, Castle Hill and Port (hundreds of cafes and restaurants) and an easy 15-20 minute walk to the modern city centre. The prom and beaches start just the other side of the Old Town and Castle Hill. The area is flat, quiet and a mixture of residential/antique and brocante shops, restuarants and cafes and the modern art museum. There are several supermarkets close by, Monoprix (open all day sunday for the summer), Spar, Ed and the frozen supermarket, Picard. You are also close to the enormous Carrefour, a 10 minute walk north and close to the train station, Riquier which is the station one stop east of the main centre Ville train station, handy for a fast trip to Italy, Cannes etc, although the bus 100 stops right by the Port for all towns east of Nice all the way to Monaco. The main drawback for me this year is the road works at Place Garibaldi, a beautiful square a couple of minutes away from my road, it is being prepared fo the tram route and is a dusty mess at the moment, we avoid it this year and skirt the castle hill or shoot though the old town rather than through Place Garibaldi. I can%26#39;t really comment on rue du France other than there%26#39;s some good shopping to be had there! It MIGHT be a bit noisier and busier plus a bit further to walk to the Old Town, again running the gauntlet of the building works across Place Massena and Jean Medecin. Hope this helps a bit, also the express bus 99 now runs all the way to the Port from the airport , get off at quai lunel, the SECOND stop at the Port, just opposite Florian confisorie, you are 2 mins from emmanuel philibert.

best wishes
