Is 5th Latin Quarter quiet enough to stay for 50 year olds?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Paris in April, 2007. We are both 50 years old - like to have fun but like quiet at night when it is time to sleep. We can only stay in Paris for 5 nights and most apartment rental agencies require 7 nights. We found what looks like a nice apartment thru Vacation in Paris.com - it is called Jewel in Paris - located at 14 rue Lyonnais in the 5th - Latin Quarter - any advise as to whether or not this will be a good choice for us.

If not, do you know of any rental agencies that will let us rent an apartment for 5 nights? Thanks in advance.

If you%26#39;re looking for a quiet place, prefer Saint-Germain, just near the Latin Quarter. Or even a more remote district like 16th or 17th. There are plenty of hotels there. And for 50 yo, Latin Quarter could also be OK. It depends on which street you want to stay.

That street is in the %26quot;Port Royal / Gobelins%26quot; area of the 5th, and you can see the buildings by looking at the photos on www.pagesjaunes.fr (enter rue des lyonnais w/o #14, and 75005). It should be quiet.

It is also about 400-500 meters walking to either Gobelins or Censier metro stops. You are a bit removed from tourist central but that%26#39;s not always a bad thing. There might be a bus stop nearer than the metros, although a walk of 400 meters only takes about 5-7 minutes.

I personally find the areas around Latin Qtr / Seine / St Germain to be very hectic and don%26#39;t sleep in this area. but that%26#39;s just me - been there quite a few times and like hotels in the %26#39;teens%26#39; (14th, 17th...) better than those with tourist mobs crowding my sidewalk.

You can walk up rue Mouffetard, a colorful market street from this address...

The Latin Quarter may not be to your liking as it sounds as though you really want to stay in a relatively quiet neigborhood. Suggestions given by the poster above are very good.

The Latin Quarter is not a loud area. There are loud areas to it, but for the most part it%26#39;s quiet and quaint. I find it no louder than St. Germain des Pres.

Rue des Lyonnais is almost in the 14th arrondissement, you%26#39;re practically out of the Latin Quarter and not anywhere near the action of the LQ. The Gobelins metro stop is not far from there. While this is not a very central location, if you found a nice place there you should not worry at all about it being too busy at night. (Except that it%26#39;s right next to the Val de Grace hospital so you could have sirens).
