The folks over at egullet can%26#39;t get enough of this place. I%26#39;ve never been, but I wonder if anyone here can attest to their great reputation amongst the foodies.

anyone? Phread? Truffaut? Raphy?

Les, I think we must twins that were separated at birth. Yes, we%26#39;ve been to Les Papilles. It%26#39;s a tiny quaint épicerie with tables and a counter. The chef prepares whatever he feels like and you choose a wine from the shelves to accompany your meal. G is VERY difficult to please with food because he has so many limitations (God forbid that piece of asparagus has ever actually touched the same plate on which his dinner is served...), so when we arrived to find the lunch of the day was veal head, it was definitely a %26quot;no go%26quot;. To be completely honest, I don%26#39;t really think I was up for a big piece of farm animal that still looked like an animal, either!! I don%26#39;t know anybody else that%26#39;s been there, so if you go I%26#39;d like to hear about it.

Hmmmm, veal head is not my cup of tea either. I guess it depends on your tastes. Over at egullet it%26#39;s all about Les Papilles, but I%26#39;m sure veal head is not on the menu on a daily basis! I might try it when I%26#39;m there in September, depending on the menu du jour.
By the way, they also rave about le Pamphlet, just so you know. Oh, and L%26#39;Astrance, which I%26#39;ve never been to.
The moderator at egullet is someone who has an apartment in Paris and lives in Baltimore. I swear I thought it was you at first. Truffaut in disguise. But he%26#39;s much more high-maintenance than truffaut...
|||
Truffaut....high maintenance?? Never!! Of course, G might have a different opinion! LOL
THE %26quot;Le Pamphlet%26quot; is currently closed because they had a flood from broken pipes and won%26#39;t reopen until November. That%26#39;s actually how we ended up at Le PETIT Pamphlet, the sister resto. Petit is more conveniently located that %26quot;Grand%26quot;, but I%26#39;m hoping that the big sister will be open toward the end of November so we can try it, too.
