advice on train tickets

Hi, wonder if anyone can give me advice here, have booked a train ticket from CDG to Nice but have since found out train comes through Marnee La Vallee and would like to get on there instead however the train company cannot change my train ticket and have said if I go ahead and get on the train at Marnee La Vallee the guard on the train might fine me up to 500 Euros as I have not validated the ticket at CDG, the train company (Rail Europe - based in the UK) have said I can chance going on the train and hopefully I will not receive a fine, can anyone advise if they think I would be likely to be fined?

What type of fare do you have exactly? Prems? Discovery stay?

Yes the ticket must be validated. You could board the train at Marne La Vallee and locate the conductor on the train and say that you forgot to validate your ticket. Thats completely allowed. However, you are supposed to board at CDG which is the catch. Also, from time to time they do verify tickets BEFORE you board.

My suggestion would be to firstly , find out if you can change the tickets at the train station prior to your trip. Let me know the fare and I can probably give you an answer on that. Secondly you could go to the Marne la Vallee station and discuss with an agent the possiblity of boarding at Marne la Vallee. They might be flexible on that point since its so close to the CDG station.

Hi, it says on my ticket that the tarif is France Rail pass, I have purchased a 3 day france rail pass and then booked this train. I was told by Rail Europe when I booked this as long as I write the date I am travelling in ink on the rail pass before I board the train it would be ok, do I still have to validate the actual ticket? Think I will do what you suggested and contact someone at the train station in marnee la vallee when we are over there and see what they can do, failing that will just have to board a train to CDG on the day of travel and get on the train to nice there, do you know if there are trains running from Marnee La Vallee to CDG at 0600? I appreciate all your help, it is so difficult trying to sort all this out from this end, thank you very much

Okay i follow you now. If you have a rail pass then the ticket is a simple reservation rather than an actual ticket. Reservations are required for all TGV travel. Odds are you can simply exchange the reservation at the train station. Otherwise you might have to purchase a new reservation but they arent very expensive... 6 euros per person or something like that.

Yes you still have to validate the reservation and you do indeed note the first day of travel on your railpass by writing the date on it.

What is your date of travel and I will look at the schedule for you.

Saturday August 19th, train departs CDG - Nice at 0654.

thanks Julie.

Train number 5102 departs MLV at 7h11 for Nice on that day. I would suggest just popping by the station the day you get there or when it works out. Its right next to the entrance to Disney , just follow the signs to Gare TGV if you are in the car or if already at disney its right next to Disney Village.
