Francophiles: i am this Sunday morning having an (intially quiet) fit of crying - tears of joy to realize that i actually will be back in La Ville de la Lumiere in five weeks. A %26quot;grown man%26quot; (whatever than is supposed to mean in Bush II%26#39;s America) crying tears of joy over the prospect of seeing my beloved Paris again. Only the second time in my life - the first on notre voyage de noces. 17 years of waiting to get back. Tears of joy equal in intensity at the wedding altar with my femme. More intensive than tears of joy when either of my children was born.............Am I being reunited with a long lost lover, and she is the city of Paris?
A rant......don%26#39;t read if rants bug you.....
I am so SICK of the homogenized culture of 21st century suburban US!!!! My experience with suburban US especially since the 80%26#39;s continues to be terribly disappointing: everyone it seems prefers uniform and nearly homogenized clothing, autos, restaurants, housing, stores, education, etc....

patrician01:
I am so happy for you - I fully understand your tears of joy.
You will be in Paris in the beginning of September - said to be one of the best months to go.
Congrats and Bon Voyage !

Sounds like you will have an excellent revisit to Paris.
Have you thought of living there for part of the year perhaps?

WOW. WOW.
I totally agree with your paragraph on the U.S. suburban life. THat%26#39;s why we choose to live in the university neighborhood of the city. It%26#39;s got charm and character, there%26#39;s a %26quot;there%26quot; there...if you know what I mean.
Enjoy your time in Paris. Buy a pied a terre while you%26#39;re there!

patrician - I agree wholeheartedly with your rant, and more. Sadly, I won%26#39;t be back in Paris until March.... have a lovely time. :)
