Riviera next summer. Any gems?

I%26#39;m already starting to plan next years summerbreak as I want to get some good deals and find hidden gems.

I%26#39;m looking for a place on the Riviera or nearby hillsides. Maybe not some og the bigger places, but a smaller village would be great. I plan on hiring a car so we can go to the beach and cities like St.Tropez, Cannes,Nice and so on.

I last went in 1998, and then we stayed in all those cities, but now we travel with a child and I want a more quiet base.

Any good suggestions? Towns, hotels etc.

You might like the small town of Valbonne, not far north of Cannes. It%26#39;s not on the regular tourist path but is absolutely charming and a fine place to stay. Another would be Mouans-Sartoux, to the west of Valbonne and about 10 minutes south of Grasse. Valbonne has a number of hotels, including one on the main Place, while Mouans-Sartoux has one hotel and a number of B%26amp;Bs.

A hotel just outside Valbonne that might work for you is the Bastide de Valbonne; rooms have good-sized refrigerators.
