Hi.
Can someone please tell me how much a taxi would cost from CDG airport to Rue Des Archives? and how long it takes...
or if there is an alternative method of transport? Im on a budget!
if I get a Taxi- is it important to book in advance to avoid being ripped off?
thanks!

We - my sister and I - had to get a cab twice in France. The first time was in Nice, from the Sofitel Nice Center to Nice Ville train station.
This time there were 3 of us. We noticed the meter showed 7.20 as we boarded it. The trip was like 6 to 7 minutes long. Once we got to the station the meter showed 12.20, the driver informed us, our fare was 20 Euros. We had 2 small 21%26quot; each pilot cases, and one large 27%26quot; suitcase. We didn%26#39;t tip him.
In Paris, we tried to make reservations the night before our departure with yellow van shuttle.com and another company, I can%26#39;t remember its name right now. One could not help us, the other one quoted us 100 Euros for 2 people. Our flight was at 7 am, so we wanted to at CDG by 4:30 am. We asked the front desk clerck to call a taxi for us the next morning, we paid 50 Euros, 47 Euros plus 3 Euros tip. When we boarded the taxi, it showed an number on the meter already, I can%26#39;t recall what it was.
I guess in France, the meter runs the minute the drivers are dispatched. I can%26#39;t recall the last time I used one here in USA, but I think here the meters starts running after the driver gets to your pick up location, don%26#39;t quote me on this.
I guess I%26#39;ll never find out if these prices were reasonable or if we were ripped off, but we knew we could not afford to miss our flight/train.
I wish I could be more helpful, but I guess only locals can answer this question better for you.
If I were you, I would take the metro, RER or bus, only if you are getting there during the day.
I travelled from Nice to Paris via train. We arrived at Gare de Lyon, it connects to the RER, we took it to our hotel for only 1.40 Euro per single ride.
Go to www.viamichellin.com to find out the distance between the airport and your destination.
Good luck, and I hope you have a good time!!

Depending on the time (night/day) and the traffic, it should be between 40 and 50 Euros.
Take a taxi at a taxi rank in CDG (don%26#39;t book, it would be more expensive as the taxi would have to come specifically for you and - maybe - wait, there are always taxis at the official ranks, the line may seem long but moves fast) (and use the official rank - the %26quot;Taxi Parisiens%26quot; are strictly controlled)

To Norween2:
I don%26#39;t understand why you took my posts so personal. I meant no disrespect to anyone. I only wanted to share my personal experience with others. I am entitled to my opinion. I believe 50 Euros was kind of high, but I had no other alternative at that time of morning. This can happen anywhere in the world. Life goes on.
