Une autre question des Halles s'il vous plait

VIVE LA FRANCE!!

For arrival at CDG @ 730 AM in Sept, is there a train from CDG into Les Halles/Rue des Innocents (close to intersection of Rue Berger and Rue St. Denis)?

Also, have not answered the following question despite peering over online maps of le Metro, Rick Steves 06 Paris, and Streetwise Paris:

What is the difference between a Metro stop %26quot;Les Halles%26quot; and a seemingly adjoining RER facility %26quot;Les Halles Chatelet?%26quot; Does the Metro run into LHC? If so, is there a particular exit route one should take out the byzantine Les Halles underground shopping center to get to Rue des Innocents (close to intersection of Rue Berger and Rue St. Denis)?

A bientot!

Chatelet les Halles is the biggest metro station in Europe, so many metros and RER stop there. On the RER, the name of the station is %26quot;Chatelet-Les Halles%26quot;, and on the Metro, %26quot;Chatelet%26quot;

If you want to exit at the shopping center, just follow the %26quot;Forum des Halles%26quot; indication panels.

Take the escalators to the top, and then turn right when you%26#39;re out, and go straight untill you cross rue des Innocents.

Châtelet-les-Halles is a BIG station. It%26#39;s, as FranParis said, the biggest metro/commuter rail station in Europe.

Châtelet-les-Halles stretches NW-SE for a little less than a 1/2 mile.

At its SE corner, it has a transfer to Châtelet metro station for lines 1, 7, 11, 14. At its NW corenr, there%26#39;s the transfer to the Line 4 metro station %26quot;les Halles%26quot; (Line 4 had to be displaced while building the facility).

There is also a Châtelet station on Line 4 (which is, in fact, quite close to the SE corner of Châtelet-les-Halles), but since Les Halles Line 4 station has an easier transfer, the Châtelet-lesHalles --%26gt; Châtelet Line 4 transfer is not signposted.

Rue des Innocents is close to the SE corner of Châtelet-les-Halles and in fact the easiest exit would be from... Châtelet METRO station, on Line 4 platforms !

My hint :

Board a front car at CDG.

At Châtelet-les-Halles RER, head towards %26quot;Correspondance M 1, 7, 11, 14%26quot;. Then follow Exit Nr.10, Rue des Innocents.

To help you with a visual, visit the RATP website at www.ratp.fr and on the front page, you will see a box for Plans du Quartiers. Click on the dot for Station, and start typing in Chatelet. It will fill in the rest of the letters for you. When Chatelet-Les Halles appears, click on it, and you will get a map of the area, including an illustration of the %26quot;steps%26quot; that are Metro and RER entrances. The Rue des Innocents will appear, and you will see with relative accuracy where your hotel might be in relation to the station exits/entrances.

The RER B is quite easy to use from CDG into the city, and if you board an express train from the airport (easily identifiable by the few number of stops posted on the platform), Chatelet-Les Halles will be your second stop.

I%26#39;ve heard that there is still a family of tourists from Iowa who%26#39;ve been lost at Chatelet station since the early 70s. They%26#39;ve now grown quite pale and they live by scrounging food and Orangina from the vending machines. The children have learned to play the accordian by osmosis. Unfortunately, the elderly grandmother passed away during the ordeal and her ghost can sometimes be seen floating along the tapis roulant during the evening hours. Is this true??

Aren%26#39;t they relatives of the Iranian man in CDG 1 ?

Truffaut :

I like your sense of humor!

I apologize to the readers of this tiny thread on the Forum if I have presented questions revealing ignorance.......

My question was prompted merely by an understanding by this Francophile that the relevant station was quite large and by the fact that I will be traveling alone with quite a measure of physical difficulty..........

Merci beaucoup,

P

Chatelet - les Halles is ONE metro/RER station.

As you exit your train, look at the map of the area and find out what exit to take. It can make a big difference: walking 10 minutes outside vs. walking 10 minutes under ground!

If you have difficulty with stairs, be sure to follow FranParis%26#39; advice and use the Forum des Halles exit, where there are escalators all the way to ground level.
