'Grand' hotel within 30 mins of Paris

My husband and I are looking for a grand, maybe chateau type hotel where we can celebrate our first wedding anniversary/40th birthday.

We%26#39;d like to spend a couple of nights there, then be able to get a train - max 30 mins - to spend a few nights in Paris.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This one looks nice. It is actually in Saumur, so you could walk into town for a variety of dining options and do some sightseeing. There%26#39;s a train station (TGV - fast train) so you could go on to Paris when you%26#39;re ready... Prices are reasonable for this type of hotel. Glowing reviews on TA. (check for cancellation policy).

There is one non-stopping daily TGV to Paris and many connections with a change at Saint Pierre des Corps.

Travel time 1hr50 (nonstop) to 2hr30 (stopping).

sorry, why St Pierre des Corps...? do you have a hotel-chateau in mind for that area..? We enjoyed our little driving tour from there to Amboise and around...

Check out this website : grandes-etapes-francaises.fr/chateau_esclimo…

It is close to Paris - less than an hour - but didnt see anything more specific regarding area.

Try the Relais et Châteaux web site for many excellent possibilties. We%26#39;ve stayed at quite a few of the hotels, which are part of a group, not a chain, and some are really marvelous. But the Château d%26#39;Esclimont was not one of those.

A small hotel that we really, really loved is in the little Paris suburb of Neauphle-le-Château. The house is a 19th-century mansion set in park-like grounds, and if you get the very large room on the first floor, all done in blue and white and gold, you will be very happy. There%26#39;s a small restaurant, and Paris is easily reached by train from the town.

You might also consider the Trianon Palace in Versailles.

Thank you so much for your speedy replies
