Would like a budget hotel with old world charm - possible?

Just booked some bargain fligths to Paris for a long weekend in November and need some help with a hotel please.

Ideally I%26#39;m looking for a hotel under 75E per room per night.

Providing it%26#39;s not a million miles away from the centre, we%26#39;re not too bothered about the area we stay in as long as we are near a metro/bus stop to get about but as it%26#39;s our first visit to the city I would like a hotel that%26#39;s a little more %26#39;Parisian%26#39; than one of the faceless chains. Can anyone help with any suggestions?

Thanks.

Maybe Hotel Flor Rivoli in the 1st arr?

A bit further %26#39;out, a lot of people seem to like Hotel de l%26#39;Avre, on the %26#39;other side%26#39; of the Eiffel area, just off blvd Grenelle.

Or this recently-renovated 2-star in Montparnasse:

Hotel Agenor (see their package rates)

Hotel de L%26#39;Esperance is the answer !

I stayed there the week before last - and it was so Parisian and in a lovely quartier. Read the reviews:

I payed 71 euros for a spacious and very clean single room. Big shower, bathroom shining - neighbourhood: charming square, foodmarket, pedestrian street.......

Hotel Langlois

I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Langlois, but I walked by it 2 weeks ago. It looked OK, but I found the street rather heavily trafficed - so if I was to book a room at the Langlois I would ask for a room not overlooking the street.

Only my impression - walking by it.

I agree about both l%26#39;Esperance and the Langlois... l%26#39;Esperance is on a narrower and quieter(looking) street, while Langlois is on a busy street. I don%26#39;t think Langlois%26#39; rates are that low, either.

l%26#39;Esperance is in the southern part of %26quot;Latin Qtr%26quot;, walkable to rue Mouffetard (delightful market street), Jardin des Plantes; situated between metros: Censier and Gobelins.

WOW! Thanks for the quick replies everyone.

I know that Langolis is out of budget as I%26#39;d already looked at that one but I will look at the others, esepcially L%26#39;Esperance as the reviews are very good.

Thanks again.
