Dear Jessica,
There are plenty of places where your children will not get bored- Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin d%26#39;Acclimation and the Science Museum to name three. Please do a search on TA for things to do with kids and I think you%26#39;ll find all the information you need.
When I was in Paris last month I asked my seven year old daughter if she would be bored if we came back next year for a month or six weeks and her response was %26quot;Mom, how could I be bored? This is PARIS!%26quot;
May your children feel the same,
Laura

There is a fun fair/carnival in the park next to the Louvre right now. Bumper cars/rides etc. Fun for all ages. Hopefully they will be there next week.

a great city for kids -- do some searches on %26#39;kids%26#39; etc because this has been discussed several times recently:
some favorites for mine back in the day:
Tuilleries -- where there is a carnival, pony rides, and you can rent little sailboats to sail on the pool -- and last time I was there, I noticed they had a playground with trampolines set into the ground that you can rent for time periods
Luxembourg Gardens - playgrounds, same deal with boats on ponds
Parc Monceau --- pony rides
climb Notre Dame tower-- see the gargoyles up close -- they let the little kids sit under the big bell when they describe it
I think the %26#39;plage%26#39; is up when you are there -- they turn the Seine bank into a beach -- with water sprinklers to play under, beaches to lie on etc
of course the boat trips on the Seine
make a big production out of afternoon visits to bakeries for fabulous pastries which can be taken to the park -- one of the particular delights is the cool way they wrap things like this in Paris -- and kids adore picking them out
the area in front of the Pompidou usually has pretty cool buskers -- I am not a big fan of the museum itself i.e. the art -- but the area is great
the Louvre can be a great experience if handled adroitly -- do some homework -- have the kids pick out things they want to see and then go see them -- just a handful of things -- I%26#39;ll be tthey remember winged victory and the Egyptian room -- and perhaps the great middle Eastern bas reliefs of giant kings with lions
the Tour coming in is pretty interesting -- and they bike around Paris over a dozen times so you get to see the cyclist and the cheese car, the bagel car etc numerous times
there are books on kids and Paris
Versailles is a good day trip -- you can rent a boat for the pond, or bikes or just wander around -- take a picnic

My 10 year old son really enjoyed the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides Museum (esp. the Musee Armee withall the mid-evil armor, cannon, etc, and Napolean%26#39;s tomb).

My son%26#39;s very favourite thing to do in Paris is going to the top of the Eiffel Tower (which gets old after a few years, but he *loves* it).
The playground at the Jardin du Luxembourg is fabulous -- different equipment for all age ranges, under the canopy of trees.
Pain au chocolat, s%26#39;il vous plait. (the first words he learned to say in French!)

I was in the jardin d%26#39;acclimatation last week with two children aged 6 and 9 and they loved it! There is an area where there are a few fountains, so with this hot weather they can get wet if they wear a swimming costume it will be easier. Also the cité des sciences, Palais de la découverte ( i think they have an exhibit about gorillas)

Paris Plage is open, and they have lots of fun stuff to do with the kids.... roller blading classes, rock climbing, a pool, sand castle building, running through mists, etc.
Fat Tire Bike tours is a fun activity and there are trampolines in the Tuileries gardens.
A short RER ride to the Parc de Sceaux is always a trat for my family... a Le Notre designed garden that you can picnic on, chateau in the back ground the Grand Canal to explore.
A swimming pool would be perfect. There is a nice public one in Neuilly, near the Sablons metro and there is a new one floating on the Seine in the 13th (google piscine Josephne Baker). For private pools you can pay for the one at the Hotel Novatel (indoor) near the Eiffel Tower or go all out at the Aquaboulevard water park in the 15th.
Museums and churchs are great with all the heat. Kids love the Egyptian wing of the Louvre and the Modern Art collection at the Beaubourg. The architecture of the Orsay is also fun for kids, with the large clock and plenty of great chairs to sink into.
