Nice meal between 15 and 30 Euros?

After reading about Truffauts wonderful restaurant experience (and then seeing the price!), what is a nice Parisian restaurant for maybe 20 to 30 Euros per person? That would be without alcohol.

Last year, we ended up staying with family friends who had a private chef (the food was WONDERFUL), though the few other meals - save for one in the Latin Quarter - that we had out were really iffy. I had wanted to go to Chartier last trip, which we plan to visit this year. I don%26#39;t know if I should splurge on Altitude 95 or not. I think we%26#39;ll end up eating a few meals in the latin quarter, and maybe one at the Cafe Port Doree%26#39; (I think that is the name of it). There are so many restaurants starting with Chez, and then many that cater to tourists - and those aren%26#39;t the ones I would prefer.

I like good food on a budget - nothing too fancy most of the time, unless (like in the case of Altitude 95) there is the atmosphere as well.

Thanks! I have been following the dining threads here, but there are so many choices.

Where will you be staying this time?

honestly? nearly every bistro/brasserie will have a prix fixe menu for the day which generally includes entrée, main dish and dessert or salad. Usually in the 15-30€ range. I%26#39;m sure all our experts will give you specifics when they hear what area you%26#39;re staying in for this trip. They have a thousand little restaurant gems tucked away in their files. :)

A very nice restaurant that has a good prix fixe menu for lunch at about 15 euro and dinner for about 30 euro is La Pre Verre on Rue Thenard in the Latin Qtr. It is across the street from the Hotel du College de France and in between Blvd St. Germain and rue des Ecoles.

We are staying at Port Doree%26#39; - but we won%26#39;t be there all the time. I expect we%26#39;ll eat at the cafe nearby the first night, unless we go to the Latin Quarter instead. There just are so many choices - I was looking up one of the many Chez restaurants here (so many start with that!) and found a menu for Chez Cotti that looks very nice (it is in the Montparnasse area) that has good prices. But I don%26#39;t know if they are good, just that they have a website!

There are so many places to eat and visit, so little time. :)

Nbody,

For around 30 euros (no wine), you can have a fine dinner at Bistro Le Petit Pamphlet at 15 rue St Gilles in the 3rd. This is the site of %26quot;the other best fish dish I%26#39;ve ever had anywhere%26quot; that I referenced in the Senderens review. The setting is sophisticated, the service among the best I%26#39;ve ever had in Paris, and the food of superb quality. Our dinner included a superb Rousillon wine for 20 euros, and our total bill was 85 euros.

You can also go to Chez Charles Victor on rue Brézin not far from where you%26#39;re staying. The closest metro would be Mouton-Duvernet, I think. You%26#39;ll need reservations at either Charles Victor or Petit Pamphlet.

For 30 Euros before wine I have found a very nice very small restaurant (with a gorgeous waitress but that%26#39;s another story...) on avenue Bosquet in the 7th almost on the corner of Ecole Militaire, that is called le 7eme Vin. Really good quality and the bill ended up being 82 Euros for two with a bottle of Rosé for 19 Euros.

Truffault, Porte Doree is at the peripherique of the 12th arr... Chez Charles Victor is in the Denfert-Rochereau area of the 14th... but that is a nice recommendation. It%26#39;s a tiny place with a blackboard menu. I don%26#39;t think it is necessarily so good as to necessitate a long trip to it, though, but ok if you%26#39;re in the area.

My mistake. I was thinking it was in the south, as we often have Sunday lunch at a bistro called La Porte Doree after the puces de Vanves.

I will be flying from Nice to CDG on Saturday evening, and want to hire a driver or taxi to drive me around Paris( the city of Lights), and then dine in a nice restaurant, not fancy just good food, and good people watching.
