Paris in November: what to do?

Hello everyone,

New to the site and love it so far. I%26#39;m going with my wife to Paris in November on our honeymoon. I%26#39;d love to take her bike riding (as we love to do that) but wonder if any place would rent bikes in November? Also since the weather will be colder will any outdoor activities even be available (seems like most activities shut down in October)??

Any ideas would be greatly. Also thinking of taking the day boat trip to Belgium.

All your ideas would be very helpful, thanks!

You%26#39;ll find that it%26#39;s likely to be too cold to ride a bike for purely recreational purposes. There are years when the weather is fairly warm, but not often. Also, there%26#39;s likely to be rain which makes riding a bike less than pleasant. There is an organized bike event that leaves from Hotel de Ville every Friday year round, but you%26#39;d need to provide your own bike. I think it%26#39;s about 20km and takes a different route every time.

We were there last November and it was extremely cold. It even snowed.

Check out a company called (I think) Fat Bike Tours or Mike%26#39;s Bike Tours. They are an American Company in Paris. If you do a search on this site you can get more info about them.

Thanks for the help.

I figured it would be VERY cold but I found it odd that even with that weather they still offer the boat trips to Beligum etc.

Roughly what kind of temperature are we talking?

Peter you are in New york. I%26#39;%26#39;m living in So. California. So perhaps I am a bit of a wuss. However, When its in the low thirties at night and the low 40%26#39;s during the day I consider that to be cold. The wind in Paris can be quite chilly too. I%26#39;m told that Paris weather is similar to Seattle.

We did not let the cold weather stop us from having a wonderful time. We bundled up. Gloves, hats, scarves and boots and went about doing all of the things we wanted.

We were very happy to come across several Starbucks in Paris. Normally I would not go to to Starbucks, but It was a great place to stop have a hot drink, warm up, and use the restroom in a non-smoking environment.

since we never see snow here, it was quite a novelty for us and we ran around taking pictures of it.

:) You ran around taking pictures of it? Great! Sounds like you guys had fun!

I see the segway tours are still running until the end of November so I want to hit that for sure. Also planning on doing a wine tasting day which my wife will LOVE!!

This forum has been so helpful, thank you so much for the advice.

What else did you guys do on your recent Paris trip?

We%26#39;ve been to Paris many times so we walk alot. I had seen this unusual park in a movie called Before Sunset. It was beautiful even in the cold weather. We were there walking for hours.I think it is called Promenade De Plants. Another beautiful park is Park Monseau.

I%26#39;m looking forward to going to see Le Orangeri this year. The area across from the Eiffel Tour is always worth a visit. We always spend a little time on Mont Marte (Best on a clear day).

Hopefully they will have the Christmas decorations up. they are wonderfull. Especially at the Galleries Lafayette and on the Champs Elysee.

We have also taken day trips with a company called Parisvsion. We usually do one each time we are there. We especially loved the Loire Valley and Brugges. The Normandy Beaches and the Champagne trip are good too.

Hi Suzanne,

That Parisvision site was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you so much!

Cityrama is another good company for tours and day trips. they are on the same street as Cityrama. We%26#39;ve useb both companies and been very happy.

I was in Paris last November, just before the snowfall, and I didn%26#39;t find it that cold. But then I live in N. England -- and the weather was pretty comparable to here. I wore a medium-weight jacket , gloves and scarf and walked EVERYWHERE. It only rained one morning. The rest of the days were sunny and bright. Paris is definitely a city for walking, so you could easily spent a lot of time outdoors.

I know last year isn%26#39;t necessarily a predictor of this year. But since you live in NY, you probably won%26#39;t find November to be that cold. Definitely carry an umbrella, though, as it rains without warning.
