HI,
(1) Can anyone pls tell me whether one can book open tickets between Paris and Lourdes. (I am travelling on an unconfirmed ticket into Paris, so don%26#39;t know when I will arrive).
(2) Can this train ticket be cancelled at any time? If so, with what penalty?
(3) Besides the net, can one book these train tickets at the last moment at any train station and/or perhaps CDG airport or does one need a reservation at all times?
Thanks in advance,
Gery

To make it short : the Paris-Lourdes journey is a TGV one and seat reservation is required. Reservation is embedded with the ticket.
The %26quot;openness%26quot; facility is (let%26#39;s be short) only available on full-fare tickets.
On regular Corail trains, if you decide to take another train than the one you booked, you can do so within two months without a guaranteed seat.
That%26#39;s NOT permitted on TGVs. You have to change your reservation at a booth or an ATM.
If you change before the scheduled departure time, there%26#39;s no penalty of any kind. Unless you are changing from an off-peak train to a peak train.
If you change after the scheduled departure time PLUS one hour, you have a 50% penalty.
Same rule applies for cancellation/refund.
You can buy a TGV ticket up to minutes before train departures, IF there are seats available.
