Rooms for rent – locally advertised

Hi! I was wondering if there are rooms for rent which are not advertised on the internet (at least not found through regular search), but could be found by other means. I reserved a room for 3 people and 3 nights at Miramar in Cap-d’Ail, for less than 100 euro a night, which is a great price. When looking at the address on Google Earth, it seemed to be far from roads, but after further research, it seems to be on the main road and close to the train station, so I assume it will be very noisy. The room does not have sea view, so it probably faces the street. It will be my second day in Europe coming from US, so I predict sleeping in later in the mornings – if I can find a quiet place, maybe in a residential area.

My question is: are there rooms for rent which are advertised only locally? Are there so few hotels inland? I looked for hotels/motels (gites, hebergement etc) in villages 10-20 km inland (from North of Nice to the Italian border) and I couldn’t find anything below 100 euro / night for 3 people; plus there were not many choices anyway, regardless of price. I read French pretty well and I checked many French websites, but no success. If we just drive along the roads in the country side, would we have a chance to find something?

Thanks!

Check sawdays.co.uk where there are several you could try - you can%26#39;t go wrong with their recommendations

Certainly there are rooms advertised only locally, which makes them hard to find in advance. Depending on when you%26#39;re going, you might be able to find lodging without a reservation--but not, probably, in July and August. Here are some B%26amp;Bs that might work for you:

(1) in the small town of Mouans-Sartoux, between Cannes and Grasse. Very nice little place, little tourism because people don%26#39;t know about it:

You can find more in the area by using Google to search for

chambresdhotes in Grasse

Bonne chance!

You can also try Valbonne, another attractive inland town.
