Some newbie questions for the Nice-experts

Hi,

we %26#39;ll stay in Nice for 3 days over the weekend (Hotel le Meurice/ near albert 1 park) at the end of july, can anyone suggest some nice not overcrowded beach areas in/ around nice ? Sand would be fine, but isn%26#39;t a must have.

Second is there some advice for a good/cheap parking possibility around there, distance 1-2 km for a small rented car ?

Or better leave the car outside the city center and going 2-3 Stations by Bus ?

Is the region completely overcrowded now, or is there some time (early in the morning/ afternoon), one can come along the roads near coast by car? Dont want to waist the time in traffic jam or climbing over other tourists to get to the sea :)

We are students interested in walking (nature, landscape), art, historical places, architecture - any advices on places in Nice and surrounding (about 100km) must have seen ?

No need for mass tourism (St. Tropez, Cannes), maybe walking in mercantour national park, traveling to Imperia on italien side ..

Is there some advice for especially making a %26quot;short%26quot; boattrip (best would be sailing) for maybe half a day/ day or going to some nice island with a fast boat ?

It shouldn%26#39;t be to expensive, going by helicopter from airport to town we would avoid ;-)

Are there any recommendations for having a nice seafood- / dinner in Nice with the chance to save some money for the flight back :) ?

thanks in advance

The beach os pebbly in Nice and more or less the same all along the Promenade des Anglais. For sand go to Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Juan -Les -Pins or the beach in Menton%26#39;s IOld Town (close to train station Menton Gravan)

For parking info, go to http://tinyurl.com/r5eq6

Forget about car for wandering around, buses or trains are fast, efficient and cheap.

Interesting sights: Eze-Village, La Turbie, Vence or St-Paul-de-Vence, Cagnes%26#39; historic Old Town, the Castle Hill in Nice, Villa Ephrussi-Rotschild between Villefranche and St-Jean-Cap Ferrat (bus no 81 from Gare Routière). Want some more? Make a search with the words «Suggestions for itinearry». You will find a post of mine with a 7 days suggestion for wandering around.

Nice dinner art Lou Nissart , very nice at Le Siècle at the West-End Hotel on the Promenade Des Anglais.

Interested in landscaping and nature-Villa Rothschild has 7 gardens overlooking the sea. It is absolutely beautiful. An easy bus ride (81) from Nice. All spectacular views. Then walk to St.-Jean Cap Farrat. We took advice from TA forums and were not disappointed.
