Ripped off on taxi ride for CDG airport to hotel

I called the Jolly Lotti Hotel to ask the best way to get from CDG airport to the hotel and they advised us that taxis were readily available at the airport and fare would be about 40 to 45 euros. Our taxi cost 67 euros !!!!! About $90 US. The driver took us on the scenic drive through Paris to run up the meter. Since this was our first trip to Paris and we were unfamiliar with the layout of the city we were at the driver mercy. Our return trip to the airport after our eight day stay was 45 euros, was it should have been. Live and Learn

did you have extra people and/or lots of luggage? I don%26#39;t have all the exact fees but they can charge extra for those sorts of things. I%26#39;m sure one of our experts will get you the exact breakdown.

Did you use a Taxi Parisien from CDG to your hotel

as has been recommended on the Forum over a

dozen times ? They are on the meter and have

been right on for me in 5 trips from CDG to the 5th

or 6th in the past 5 years.

There are three sets of fares, depending on the time and day of the trip, you may not necessarily have been ripped off.

HOWEVER, if you are ever in doubt as to the fairness of a fare, it is perfectly acceptable to ask the hotel staff to come and help you out with the taxi driver. I also travle with a city map and follow the taxi%26#39;s route as we go. This gives me a good idea if we are ever being taken for a ride.

What%26#39;s the best way for us to locate a Taxi Parisien at CDG?

|||

Also, sometimes what may seem like a scenic route is actually the route the driver will take to avoid sitting in traffic during rush hour. Unfortuately, 60+ Euros is not unheard of. Do you remember if there was a big difference in traffic during your inbound and outbound trips?

CBearTO,

When you come in the terminal, walk around

until to find Gate 18. As you exit you will find

a very short line with a person bringing up

the Taxi Parisiens. As I recall, when you get in the

taxi there is a fare card attached to the back of the

seat if you have any questions.

Taxi Parisiens have that logo on their roof-top lights.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;What%26#39;s the best way for us to locate a Taxi Parisien at CDG?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Simply exit your CDG or Orly arrival terminal building and walk up to the regular taxi rank just outside of each ione. ALL of the taxis queued up at these taxi ranks will be licensed TAXI PARISIENs (with the %26#39;..TAXI Parisien..%26#39; dome light). Take any taxi from these regulat taxi ranks.*** DO NOT*** accept rides from drivers %26#39;..trolling..%26#39; through the terminal offering %26#39;bargain rates%26#39; (for whatever reason). Just about every airport taxi %26#39;..horror story..%26#39; I%26#39;ve ever heard began with, %26quot;..This nice guy approached me in the terminal..%26#39;%26quot;....and ended with, %26quot;...we were robbed..%26quot;.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice - just when I think (less than 12 hours till our plane takes off) that I%26#39;ve got all the info I need, I realize there%26#39;s more! Now, at least, we hopefully won%26#39;t have that %26quot;Deer in the headlights%26quot; look at CDG!

67 euros? Possible. Taxi service is seldom cheap. It%26#39;s the price of convenience. I just checked my expense ledger from my taxi ride from CDG to the Arc de Triomphe area in March and it was 57 euros with one other passenger and two bags. Marseille airport to center ville is a similar distance and it usually costs about 50 euros.
