money no object!!

well kind of!

my husband and I are going to have one night in paris as a honeymoon/first anniversary celebration. because we didn%26#39;t have a honeymoon we have quite a big budget, but we%26#39;re time short

We tend to be quiet candlelit people rather than pomp and ceremony.

does anyone have any ideas of quirky hotels or really special restaurants???? It will only be for one night so we can push the boat out a bit

we dont like the thought of george V etc but we think it might be a bit stuffy! thanks in advance

This place may suit your purpose to-a-tee--

I%26#39;d stay at the Plaza Athenee if I had one night and no budget. It%26#39;s not quirky but extremely luxurious.

For food, I would go to the Pre Catalan in the Bois de Boulogne. It screams special romantic occasion!

Bonjour Romantic in Paris,

By far my favorite hotel in Paris is le Bristol, élégant, raffiné but not stuffy or flashy. There is a good selection of room and suites style , a small suite goes for 900 euros, you will not regret it.

From a nice quiet romantic meal you could have a stroll to Hotel Vernet and reserve a table at their Michelin star restaurant called %26quot;Les Elysées du Vernet%26quot; , you will be dining under a beautiful dome made by Gustave Eiffel.

Here are four places on the Rive gauche (Left Bank) that are really nice, if a bit cheaper than the V. You could take the extra budget and use it for a suite.

The Relais Christine is a romantic little place: gardens, intimate and very boutique-y. This is where I%26#39;d stay if I wanted discrete luxury without the fuss.

The Pont Royal was once the quieter, mellower hang out of the Beatles and the Stones, the place they%26#39;d go to chill out after a week at the V. They have rooms with

For a fresher, more modern feel, the Montalembert, next to the Pont Royal is where I%26#39;d head.

Le Lutetia - the other three are smaller and more intimate. I only mention this one because 1) they have a decent jazz bar downstairs if you are int he mood 2) I am a sucker for Art Deco and old world elegance and the upper floor suites have both in spades, as well as some pretty nice balconies. I love when our friends stay here and I get to visit!!!

Personally I like the Bristol.. Do vague.ly recall staying at the Lutetia . If TRhread recs it you will not go far wrong tho

Best wishes Gerlis

One night....

I%26#39;d opt for the Relais Christine also. As the reviews indicate the location is fabulous for sites and walks along the river. Understated luxury. We loved it.

For dining, and if budget is not an issue, I%26#39;d try for Le Jules Verne on the second level of the Eiffel Tour. It was an amazing evening. Private elevator to the restaurant. Ask for a table by the window, although you%26#39;ll be lucky to get a reservation at all. No matter what time your reservation, the table is yours for the evening - relaxed and romantic as the sun sets and the lights of Paris go on in your view. Normally, at a restaurant with a gimick, you wouldn%26#39;t be surprised if the food wasn%26#39;t up to standard. At JV, the menu, presentation, service, and quality were world-class in every way. The only problem may be whether it is too late to get a reservation. Perhaps your concierge can be of help on that.

Enjoy

The only things higher than the food are the location %26amp; the price..

Greatly over hyped - still stick to phread if I were you

Good luck Gerlis

It%26#39;s not a quirky hotel but more romantic and is suited for a belated honeymoon hotel: Pavillon de la Reine. Location is in the 3rd district at Place des Vosges and next to the Marais district.
