Eiffel Tower

My husband is dead set on going up the Eiffel Tower...I was there quite a few years ago...dont really care if i do it again but I understand his %26quot;Its not Paris if you don%26#39;t go to the Eiffel Towel%26quot; thing. I have heard that this has become such a busy place that you need to stay in line 2 hours to go up it. Is this true? If so...is there a time when it may not be so busy? I was thinking about going first thing in the morning. What time does it open at anyway? If anyone was just recently there I%26#39;d appreciate any suggestions. We%26#39;ll be in Paris July 3rd to July 10th.

Thanks

The hours will be on the website for the Eiffel..

It is either 9am or 9:30am, and it would be good for you to arrive at the ticket window at least 30 minutes prior, if not 45 min. Otherwise, I have read that going up later at night is easier, ie. after 9pm.

I strongly urge you to go up the Eiffel Tower. Although I have been to Paris several times, my husband%26#39;s very first visit was Easter, 2006. He absolutely LOVED going up the tower....in fact, it was his favorite part of the trip. He still talks about it.

Our hotel room had a great view of the tower, and he really looked forward to experiencing the %26quot;real deal%26quot; for himself. We only went to the second floor, but it was a great thrill for him. We went up the tower in the morning to avoid the larger mid-day and early evening crowds. We took two bateau mouche Seine boat rides (one during the day and one at night). The boat tours have terrific views of the tower too. ton amie

am just back from Paris and ET wasn%26#39;t %26#39;that%26#39; busy, admittedly the time of year will make a massive difference but nowhere near as busy as our previous experience

its recommended to visit at night as less busy however its just one of those things, if you want to visit (and go up) one of the most famous sights in the world then its obvious that you won%26#39;t be the only one stood in line

enjoy

We visited the Tower grounds many times and saw the lines to go up were always varied. The time we did go up was only a 20 min wait.

Be there first thing, as suggested, and treat your husband to breakfast (or second breakfast) up in the tower. It%26#39;s a great way to relax and enjoy the view...and a lot cheaper than dinner at Jules Verne.

Don%26#39;t know if this will be your cup of tea, but I%26#39;ll share what we did a few weeks ago:

We took the stairs up to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower and did not find it to be too strenuous %26amp; the view along the way were amazing-plus the line to take the Escalier (sp?) is very short. The elevator from the 2nd level to the top only took us about 10 min in line. We were there at mid-afternoon on a weekday, so other times may vary.

I was the same Nathalie! I had been up before, and didn%26#39;t care for it much, but my new hubby had never been to Europe before, let alone up Europe%26#39;s most recognizable structure!

We decided to go when another plan went awry mid afternoon, and we waited about an hour in line to get tickets. I hear going first thing, or around 8pm at night is the best to avoid line ups.

Seeing their face when they get up is worth the wait. :)

Thank you all for the replies....it helped. I think I will take my husband out for an early breakfast and hit the tower first thing in the morning. It would be very nice at night also...but I think the day view will be fantastic! Leaving for France in 3 sleeps!!!!!!!! yikes!

Please, what is a cost of the escalator from 2nd to 3rd floor? I would like to go by stairs to 2nd. Are the tickets to the top sold at 2nd floor? I can%26#39;t see anything about it on the official site.

I didnt even think about breakfast in the Tower as a meal - great idea! What should i expect breakfast prices to be like?? We would be happy with cafe au lait and a crossaint or something a bit larger like an omlette. Thanks!
