My husband and I are thinking of a holiday in France next year. I saw a program on tv a few months where someone was looking to buy a house in France and they were looking at somewhere near a large lake. The sceney looked really nice and the lake had nice walks around it. It was also fairly close to a largish town. Does someone know what areas I should look in for something of this description - close to a largish town but with nice walks around a lake?

Try the website for the television programme...I%26#39;m guessing they might have archives, or at least contact information for the producer or company -- you could email and ask them.
Unfortunately, the information you%26#39;ve given could be anywhere. Every departement (whether commune, petit village, or cite) has it%26#39;s own randonnees (walks), any of which could go round a lake.

If you%26#39;re just looking generally for a pretty town by a lake, try Annecy http://www.annecyevenement.com/index.php

Thanks very much Diz, that is just what I`m after.
