I was just checking prices for first class and found a 12,000.00!!!!!! First class ticket!!! So do any of you find good deals on First class seats? If so, How do you do it-- by the way I have no credit cards with miles or whatever. I just thought that it%26#39;d be fun but not at that price!! Thanks Moon

Just curious: what is it with frist class (apart from maybe a better menu) that is so special that it could be worth that much money ?
I mean: you get to fly on the same airplane as all the other passengers, and you do not arrive any earlier than the rest. If the departure is delayed for some reason, first class passengers also have to wait. You may be allowed to leave the airplane first, but you also still have to wait to pick up your baggage.
I found this price with AirFrance from New York directly to Paris, 2 weeks stay: 643,37 USD - that is 507,39 euros.

If I were an American I would grab the cheap tickets and come over to Paris 3 times a year - instead of once every 3 years on first class !!

That is exactly my point! How can they possibly charge some that and expect them to pay that??
|||
It is really very simple. The airlines make almost all their money - and you have to know it costs a fortune to build a plane, staff it, fuel it, insure it, etc etc - from those sitting in the pointy end of the plane. That is the reason coach tickets can be sold for peanuts - if the front is full, the back could be empty and the airline would probably be better off as far as their bottom line goes (no need to install seats, staff up, etc etc).
So, be grateful that some folks are willing and/or able to pay the big bucks or you would never go anywhere!!
In fact, if the airlines would charge what it really costs to haul you or me from point a to point b, then maybe they wouldn%26#39;t be sucking on the government teat and drowning in a sea of red ink!
Now, why do people sit up front? If you are a corporate employee and are being sent half-way around the world to make a multi-million dollar deal, you need to be rested and relaxed. If you are the wife (as I was/am) of one of these folks, you once in a while get to go along and get spoiled forever for the space and the - hopefully - calm.
The glory days of flying are long past but today you can at least get room to stretch out. If you haven%26#39;t tried it and you can get an upgrade or a seat on maxjet, then go for it!

Just once we flew first class. I had mad some kind comments to a ticket agent in the Dominican Republic that was being tormented by another passenger who was screaming at everyone. When we boarded the plane we were in first class. All four of us. We felt like someone was going to ask us to move and we looked at our boarding tickets several times to make shure we were in the right seats. You had to lean forward to touch the seat in front of you. The seat reclined like a lazy boy recliner. The service and food was a whole other story. The bad part is we have to go back to reality and fly coach!

I fly first class from JFK to CDG a couple of years back and if I had the cash I%26#39;d do it again. After my meal I watched a movie on my personal DVD player and then pushde my bed back and slept for for the next 7 hours. When I arrived in Paris I felt as though I had spent the night in a hotel and was able to start my day in Paris feeling pretty fresh.

gotten? lol
You Americans eh - ........still stuck with your olde fashioned 17th century English...............
Call me a pedant - I dont care :)

I like to fly Europe on business class on American Airlines. I almost always use miles to upgrade. The seats are wider, they recline more and the food/drink is better. They usually have expedited check-in for business class passengers and you can use the executive lounge too.
Is it worth it to arrive refreshed and ready to go instead of tired and worn out? I think so.

Surely you cant get tired on such a short flight?
I dont fly first or business because:
A I dont drink in flight
B. I dont eat in flight
C I cant afford it anyway
That%26#39;s the way I arrive feeling refreshed
