My husband and I are flying into Paris and leaving for home from Vienna. Is it advisable to buy one way airline tickets while I am in Paris for travel to Vienna or should I secure them before my trip. Also any recommended airlines for a flight from Paris to Vienna.

You might want to contact the airline or agency through whom your purchased your trans-Atlantic tickets. (I am assuming you are travelling from the US, though you don%26#39;t actually say so.) They may be able to add the Paris-Vienna leg for something less than a king%26#39;s ransom.
If not, your choices are Air France or the budget airline AirBerlin.

Be sure to check the weight limitations for whichever airline you are looking at as weight limits, especially on the LCCs, are less than what Americans are used to and excess charges can add up VERY fast.
I would advise you not to wait until you arrive in Paris to book your flight. Not only will you pay top $$ if you do, but you may find flights fully booked on the day you want to travel.
Good luck!

Have you thought about taking the train from Paris to Vienna?

There IS a night train from Paris to Vuenna, the only direct train, but it takes the better part of 16 hours, leaving Paris around 5 p.m. and arriving in Vienna shortly before 9 a.m. IIRC. I%26#39;m a big fan of European trains but that would be a bit long even for me. The fastest day trains take about 13 hours. still a bit much, and involve at least one connection.
If you had a hankering to visit Munich along the way you could take the night train leaving Paris around 11 p.m. and arriving in Munich about 9 a.m. From Munich it is about a five hour trip to Vienna.

Don%26#39;t forget to check out Austrian Airlines. I don%26#39;t know how their prices stack up, but their staff is pleasant and the in-flight service is first rate.

Austrian Airlines is the best I%26#39;ve ever flown with--far ahead of the competition.

Thanks for all the great info. I%26#39;m thinking that maybe the train is an option.
