Planning a trip to France/Spain....need help!

We are hoping to travel to Europe with the kids next summer and would like to look into visiting a major city and then spending the remaining time with a villa rental from which we can do day driving tours. The problem is that I have very limited knowledge of the region in general, so really need some guidance.

I am considering either starting in Paris and renting something in the South of France...if we do that, can we also travel into Northern Spain and if yes, what areas would be worthwhile visiting?

The other alternative is to fly into Madrid or Barcelona and rent a villa somewhere in that vicinity.

Can anyone help me with either or both of these options?

Hi love2travel

If you are considering the South of France then you probably want a villa that%26#39;s situated somewhere in between Cannes and Monaco and not too far from Nice.

This will give you easy access to the more lively towns like Nice and Cannes as well as access to lots of the beaches and if you head further inland you%26#39;ll find an array of pretty little hilltop villages.

The A8 is the major motorway in the region so somewhere that%26#39;s located not too far away from an entrance to this will mean you avoid those very long traffic jams that occur in Summer.

If it%26#39;s a villa you are looking for then you might want to try www.moulinduloup.com as this would fit the bill.

Good luck

Since you want to visit both the South of France and Northern Spain, I think staying at the eastern end of the Côte d%26#39;Azur wouldn%26#39;t be your best bet. You would do better to spend some time in southwestern France, perhaps near the lovely seaside town of Collioure or the towns of Perpignan and Narbonne--from there it%26#39;s a fairly quick trip into Spain. Driving across from the Nice area would be quite a long trip.

Post your question about Spain in the Spain forum for more responses.

The Côte d%26#39;Azur is a long way from Spain. So is Paris by car. When you say Northern Spain do you mean the Atlantic coast or the Costa Brava?
