Montmartre wine harvest?

I noticed that there will be wine harvest in Montmartre while we are in Paris. What kind of a happening it is? Is it worth visiting Montmartre then? Is it some kind of market or street party or is it really about harvesting wine?

I found these pages: http://www.fetedesvendangesdemontmartre.com/ - but ofcourse they are only in French...

There are some vines on the slopes and yes, the grapes are actually harvested and made into wine but the yield is v. small. So essentially go for the street party type atmosphere.

Have a look at this site (in Eng.) - it%26#39;s not obvious at first but you can scroll down between the lamp-post and the text.

and here%26#39;s the site ;-)

the amount of vine planted on Montmarte would be harvestable by me by hand alone in one short afternoon -- it is a tiny, backyard size patch

I assume they are talking %26#39;party%26#39; here and not any real harvest except symbolic -- so look into it as a party

I suppose they could get a few bottles of wine out of the teensy vine patch

It%26#39;s actually turning out to be a pretty big festival every year now. The vineyard produces typically between 700-1700 bottles of wine, and because the festival gets bigger every year, the availability and affordability of a single bottle is getting pretty crazy. But the festival (this year it%26#39;s 6,7,8 Oct) is fun to check out. That weekend, by the way, is a big weekend in Paris this year because of the way the first full weekend falls. Nuit Blanche will be celebrated the same weekend, on Sat the 7th....and that%26#39;s a good time.

Arrow, you have perked my excitement...can you explain a little about the significance of it being the first full fall weekend, and of Nuit Blanche?

I meant that the first Saturday in October and the first full weekend %26quot;fall%26quot; together this year, so both the Montmartre festival and Nuit Blanche will happen the same weekend, which is often the case, but wasn%26#39;t true last year. Nuit Blanche is an all night party the focuses on different neighborhoods every year, to highlight something unique about the area. Last year the light displays at the Sacre Coeur and the video games on giant screens in front of the Hotel de Ville were awesome. It%26#39;s really very crowded, but a lot of fun, and almost everything is open all night long...in the past, one could walk through the Louvre at 3am.

There info about it on Bertrand%26#39;s official website at www.paris.fr/portail/Culture/Portal.lut…
