We%26#39;d love to spend our 1st year anniversary in the south of France. Since we%26#39;re from Canada we travel to the Caribbean often, we love the ocean and we love the energy of a lively atmsphere, is it still a good time to see it for the first time or have all the tourists left mid September? We love to wine and dine and party all night!! I%26#39;d love to hear form someone who has travelled there in September. Thanks!

September is our favorite month in the south of France. There are fewer visitors, the weather is just enough cooler to be comfortable, and things are still very lively--but not so much in Eze. That%26#39;s just a small village perched high above the Mediterranean, while most of the action is over in Nice and nearby towns such as Cannes.

it is the best time to go to the area in my opinion. I have been going to Monacao Eze and surrounding area at this time of year for nearly 20 years to attend a reinsurance conference - my wife joins me for a few days afterwards. You will have a great time as the weather is still very warm but not hot hot!
I can recommend the terrace at the chevre dor for lunch I have it booked up for this year for the 15th - the views and food are first class.
Monaco is a good laugh and suprisingly the food and drinks not too expensive if you look around. I can recommend la bistroquet which is off casino square and the restaurant by the pool / beach at the meridian beach plaza hotel, also the vista palace hotel does a great lunch on the terrace and a view that is probably one of the best in europe! The vista has a large V which is lit up at night and can be seen from anywhere in monaco as it sits right on top of the mountain overlooking monaco and the Italian border.
The african queen restaurant in bealieau sur mer is great fun and la reserve hotel in bsm has a fantastic terrace with a great lunch or gourmet dinner - very pricey though!
I hope you have a great time

Eze was pretty lively in the middle ages when North African corsairs arrived to rape and pillage on a regular basis but it certainly isn%26#39;t lively now. It is the ideal place if you want peace and quiet but if you want lively go to Nice.

What would the foliage and flowers be like in mid September in the south of France? Wouldn%26#39;t the sunflowers and lavender be gone by then?
|||
Yes; the lavender season, in particular, extends from late June into late August. But with this year%26#39;s temperatures, who knows?
