AND it is BOOKED until the end of DECEMBER.
Holy smoke. I am so disappointed I really wanted to bring some folks there. Oh well....
If any of you are eating there between now and January consider yourself LUCKY!

Les,
Here%26#39;s a secret......they%26#39;re open for lunch and they DO NOT TAKE reservations at lunch. There is apparently always a line at normal lunch time, but they serve until around 4pm, so if you%26#39;re willing to have a very late lunch (e.g., around 2:30), you can get in with minimal fuss. I called to check for day-of cancellations earlier this month--nothing doing--it is indeed a wait until December!

I showed up at noon on the 1 of May and we were seated within minutes for lunch. The food was good, but very traditional French. My kids loved chowing down on all the pork products, but frankly, I don%26#39;t see what all the fuss is about.

I%26#39;ve read, don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s true, that the dinner is much better than the lunch.
Thanks for the tip Truffaut. I need a dinner though, it%26#39;s for a group I%26#39;m bringing over. I%26#39;ll just go elsewhere that night!

Les, I really can%26#39;t urge you enough to try Le Petit Pamphlet. It%26#39;s on a lovely street in a lovely neighborhood. The restaurant is very nice looking (by American standards) and the food and service is excellent. It was a great value at $105 for two (including wine)!!

Can you tell me where?
Thanks.

Great, thanks.

Also, week ends are %26quot;Brasserie style%26quot; and no reservation is taken.
In all those fancy Paris restaurants, call in the morning and you might get lucky as they do have cancelations. Not surprising when you have to reserve so long in advance!

We stayed at the Hotel Relais Saint Germain next door to Le Comptoir. It is owned by the chef, and guests can arrange to have dinner there during the week without the 6 month wait.
We took advantage of this and had a wonderful 5 course dinner.
The hotel is a very nice 4 star at semi-reasonable prices. Our favorite room was #57, which had a large very private patio off of it.
