Hello,
Headed off to Paris this Fall and would love to do some day trips (go to Champagne etc. for the day) and was wondering if anyone knew how far in advance is best to book these things? Also how far in advance should one buy tickets for Moulin Rouge etc. We are looking at doing all the big tourist attractions since it is our first time there.
Thank you so much everyone!

Hi, you can wait until you arrive to book. Usually your hotel will be able to book the reservations for you if you want. The major tour companies are Parisvision and Cityrama which are now related. There are other smaller tour companies, but these two are the most popular and offer a broad range of sights. However, keep in mind that some sights are offered on certain days and times only. The Moulin Rouge can be booked ahead of time if you have a specific date and time in mind that you want to visit. You can wait until you arrive also as I doubt there will be a problem to get reservations.

I just booked the Moulin Rouge about an hour ago for tomorrow night. So you really don%26#39;t need to book too far ahead for it.

We did have one example of not getting to go on the Giverny trip because we showed up in the office on the same day we wanted to go and they told us they were full. Now I make it a habit to book things like this a week or so before we leave home.

I think going to the travel office one the day of travel and expecting to find space is a little unrealistic. Walk by there the day before, offices right across from the Louvre on rue Rivoli, very convenient, nd check out the many day trips. Check out their cancellation policy, though, if you%26#39;re thinking of making reservtions before you leve home. Some are very strict.

Just thought I would mention we booked a couple of things with Paris Vision when we were in Paris. We thought they were excelent!!!!!

There is a travel agency-type thing located inside the Louvre (in the mall area) that is most helpful. They arrange tours through Paris Vision, Cityrama, and maybe even one or two others. The folks there will spend as much time as you want discussing pros, cons, and recommendations of what you should and shouldn%26#39;t do. They%26#39;ll call the tour companies and arrange for pick up, etc.
You don%26#39;t need to book until you arrive. You%26#39;ll probably pay more if you book from home.

Most, if not all, day trips can be done the day of, by simply going to the appropriate train station the day you%26#39;d like to depart.
For Champagne you can get tickets to Reims, then stop at Epernay on your way back to Paris.
