Deux billets a Paris et deux carnets: correct terminology?

Upon arrival, when my sweetie and I get to the CDG RER station I intend to say, “Deux billets a Paris et deux carnets, s’il vous plait.” That should get us two train tickets into Paris and twenty Metro/bus tickets, right? Any better suggestions?

Most people call the billet a ticket (teekay) when metro is concerned.

I think the phraseology sounds fine (ticket windows DO say %26quot;billet%26quot;), and the OP means RER tickets, not metro tickets.

you could soften it a bit by preceding with %26quot;je voudrais...%26quot; (I would like ...)

In the same way the train to Paris is %26quot;le train pour Paris,%26quot; %26quot;pour%26quot; here meaning %26quot;à destination de.%26quot; I%26#39;m guessing here, but I suspect the original distinction was made to avoid ambiguity. If you say %26quot;Le train À Carcassonne part à dix heures%26quot; do you mean %26quot;the train going to Carcassonne leaves at 10 a.m.%26quot; or %26quot;the train currently sitting at Carcassonne (and going to somewhere else) leaves at 10 a.m.%26quot;? %26quot;Le train POUR Carcassonne%26quot; makes the meaning perfectly clear, and after all, as Antoine de Rivarol said, %26quot;Ce qui n%26#39;est pas clair n%26#39;est pas français.%26quot;

I found that the people at the CDG RER ticket sales office speak perfect English. So if you stumble with your French (as I did), they are very accomodating and will change to English for you.

You might want to clarify the carnets are for the metro - it is possible to get a carnet of ten tickets for travel to and from CdG by RER.
