Daytrip question

My family are all very excited about spending the week in Paris mid October. My children are 12, 14 %26amp;16 and I am not telling you what age my wife and I are. We thought that it would be great to stay in an apartment and have found a lovely one with great views (so they say) over SacrA Coeur. We thought that it would be lovely to go on a daytrip on the Wednesday out of Paris and would be very grateful for any suggestions as to where we should go?

Well , of course, there is Versailles. Easily accessable by RER or Fr Rail. The children would love the gardens .

For a very nice town for strolling, St Germain en Laye just west of town is very nice. Nice markets by the cathederal and great little pastry shops,

And, what about Mt St Michel? Many people make it a day trip and I know the children would love it.

Those are some that come to mind.

Another Wednesday suggestion for a daytrip would be to visit Mont St. Michel. Keep in mind that if you take a sightseeing tour they leave Paris very early (7 a.m. or so) and return by 9 p.m. Sometimes a lunch or dinner is included in the tour price.

Disneyland? Or if it%26#39;s 11th Oct, then that%26#39;s advertised as the last Wednesday opening day for Parc Asterix www.parcasterix.fr/

Otherwise, Versailles as it%26#39;s not too far and there%26#39;s plenty indoors if it rains :-( I%26#39;m not sure I%26#39;d like to be cooped up in a coach with young teens for a long drive through wet countryside, to visit a monastery in a howling gale with no means of ducking out early to retreat to a nice cosy apartment ... not that I%26#39;m a pessimist .....

It really depends on your interests... it is an easy train ride to Monet%26#39;s Gardens at Giverney and you can visit the town of Vernon while there (check first to see that the gardens have not yet closed for the season).

Auvers sur Oise is similar, only with the last days of Van Gogh being the theme of the visit.

Champagne is an easy day trip if you are into bubbly and would like to visit one of the most beautiful catherdrals in France at Reims.

Chartres is another cathedral destination.

For chateaux you could visit Versailles, Fountainbleau or Chantilly. Chantilly is great because it also has some amazing art, a forest to explore and is near the medieval town of Senlis.
